Diabetic Vanilla & Diabetic Strawberry ice cream rolled out in major UK wide supermarkets.

One of Frank’s unique product ranges, their Diabetic Vanilla and Diabetic Strawberry ice cream – now renamed Dialicious, was rolled out into major UK supermarket chains countrywide following success in NHS Hospitals throughout the country.

Historically, traditional ice cream tailored for diabetics has only been found in hospitals with an appearance and taste that holds little appeal for consumers. Originally developed specifically for the NHS, Frank’s Diabetic Vanilla and Diabetic Strawberry ice cream is made with fructose, a natural simple sugar found in honey and fruit which carries a lower glycaemic load, or glycaemic index.

This means it doesn’t cause a rapid and subsequent large fall in blood glucose levels. Consumption of foods containing fructose leads to a lower blood glucose rise compared to foods containing sucrose or glucose.

The award winning ice cream was launched into Morrisons in 2005 and then Tesco and Asda in 2006, followed by Aldi supermarkets throughout Ireland. The roll out ultimately saw it stocked in seven popular supermarkets across the UK, making it even easier for diabetic customers to get their hands on the delicious award winning ice cream.
